The Exorcist (1973) has lost its long-standing record at the box office as the top-grossing horror release. The new film based on the Stephen King's It grossed $270 million at the end of its first week, a new record for horror films in the US market.
Good news for fans of the film as we await the second chapter where It returns 27 years later (hopefully it won't be that long).
