One of the bigger gaming news coming out of this years CES that is just about to kick off in Las Vegas, Nevada, is Shield, a handheld Android device that can also be used to stream games from your PC.

Shield is equipped with a 5" touch screen with a 1280x720 resolution, MicroSD slot, and HDMI, USB and headset plugs. It's weighs in at around the size of the Xbox 360 controller, and sports the same number of buttons and sticks.

In addition to all the Android games that Shield can play it will also be able to stream your PC games, so that much like with Wii U you will be able to step away from your computer and say continue to play Xcom: Enemy Unknown when in bed (without that heavy laptop in your lap). As far as we understand it there will only be local stream however so you won't be able to stream PC games when you're out and about.

The streaming also requires a Nvidia GeForce 650 GTX or better (in your PC).

Shield makes use of the new Tegra 4 chips, and Nvidia promises 5-10 hours of battery life. No price has been announced, but Nvidia expects to launch Shield during the second quarter in North America, and later on in the year elsewhere. Now, the question that remains...

Is this product approved by Vic Mackey? If so, we're getting one for sure.
