The original Destiny not only had expansions that cost money for players, but also microtransactions as well, and in regards to the latter for the sequel, we know that Destiny 2 will indeed also have microtransactions.
Twitter user IntegerTCG shared a photo of a leaflet from GameStop that confirmed silver currency would be returning in the sequel. This premium currency allows players to purchase items with real money to save time and get better gear, so it can be useful, although not everyone agrees with microtransactions in games.
