The Back to the Future series was great in a lot of ways, but one particular highlight was the Nike sneakers protagonist Marty McFly wore in the second instalment. If you've been yearning for a pair yourself, there's good(ish) news, as the actual pair in the film are going on sale, but it's going to cost you.
The auction listing says that the shoes are going for somewhere in the region of between £25,000 and £35,000, so you'd best have some spare change lying around if you want to get these. If you were wondering about the condition, age has taken its toll, but it seems as if restoration efforts have been made to ensure they stay fabulous.
"Designed by Nike shoe veteran Tinker Hatfield, these shoes represented a futuristic take on the classic Nike brand," the listing says. "Several versions were created in order to achieve the various special-effects requirements for the self-lacing sci-fi shoes; this pair is a light-up walk-around version. The high-top sneakers feature a soft grey canvas panel with the Nike logo glued to the side, and blue-flecked foam sole around the perimeter. The sneakers are outfitted with LED lights on the side of the heel, and an illuminating 'NIKE' logo on the ankle strap. The heels showcase 'NIKE MAG' adhered to the foam."
Would you love to own these? And if you did have them - would you wear them?
