Microsoft has been talking about adding keyboard/mouse support on the Xbox One for quite some time, but some players obviously have a few concerns about this. The giant company is fully aware of this, and Xbox director Mike Ybarra is now trying to ease these concerns, as when asked about the controversial subject during a PAX West panel last weekend, he gave the following answer:
"Keyboard and mouse support is definitely coming. We have to be very smart in how we do that. We'll leave it a lot up to developer choice. A lot of people tweet me and say "you can't do this because of fairness," and we understand that. We run two platforms: the Xbox platform, and the Windows platform(...)We'll coach developers and say "look, you've got to think about your multiplayer pools, if you have a competitive game. People are probably going to want the choice to say I'll play with other keyboard and mouse people or I'll play only with controller people, or that I'll play with any of those."
It sounds like Microsoft has thought about some of the most troublesome aspects about supporting keyboard and mouse, even if it sounds like a bit of extra work for developers. The good news is that we might see an example of the system in action sooner rather than later, as Ybarra said this near the end of his statement:
"You'll see our first games supporting keyboard and mouse soon. I can't announce what that is, but soon."
What do you think about adding keyboard and mouse support on Xbox One?
