Aleksis Kennedy asked for £30,007 when he revealed the Kickstarter campaign for his new project, Cultist Simulator: Behold Our End, last week - an interesting goal for a digital board game where the cards control many different aspects and ritual-combinations lead to a wide variety of unknown outcomes. It would seem that people around the world are willing to pay a lot more than he hoped for to see such a special game idea come to life.

The game has soared past its goal and has, at the time of writing, reached £54,562. In fact, it reached its goal in a little over 12 hours, so Kennedy was definitely caught by surprise. He wrote this message shortly after reaching the goal:

"I normally have an aesthetic objection to one-sentence effect paragraphs, but f*** it.

"OKA WE'RE MAKING THIS GAME. Imma bring the dawn. SERIOUSLY you people have exceeeded my expectations in quite a terrifying way. I am very nearly going to ask you to stop giving me money but I'm not quite there yet."

We're also told that Kennedy has a few ideas for stretch goals but isn't ready to make them official just yet, so stay tuned.

Have you backed the project? If so, what was it that really caught your interest?
