The monthly sales stats from the US market are in and it's another win for Activision and Call of Duty: Black Ops. Sales of Treyarch's cold war game amounted to a breathtaking 8.4 million during November (Modern Warfare 2 did 6.07 million in its first month).

Xbox 360 did well on the back of the Kinect launch and Fable III. In fact it doubled its previous best November in terms of hardware sales and 50 percent of all video games sales in the US was on the Xbox 360 platform.

Nintendo recovered well with Wii making the biggest month-to-month leap from October to November, while Sony had a poor November where sales were down for PS3 compared to 2009. Overall, the month is the best ever month in US video game sales and hopefully the industry has now turned a corner after a tough couple of years.
