EA referred to Battlefield 1943 as an experiment when it was first announced, but it would seem the experiment turned into a major success with more than one million downloads just on Xbox Live Arcade. Now we have been given further insight into just how successful the game has been for EA.
CFO Eric Brown revealed that the game was developed for a single digit million dollar amount and that it has made EA $16 million to date after Microsoft and Sony have taken their cut.
Brown also revealed that EA will make 20 percent of their revenue this year on digital products such as Battlefield 1943, and the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company 2 expansion (Vietnam), FIFA's Ultimate Team mode, full versions of PC games and games on AppStore and so forth.
There is still no date for the PC version of Battlefield 1943 by the way, but with both Battlefield 3 and Battlefield Play4Free on the horizon it might not be coming at all...
