Marvel and 20th Century Fox's Deadpool 2 is currently being produced for release next year, but a stunt woman, Joi 'SJ' Harris, has just died on the set of the film following a motorcycle accident in Vancouver, Canada.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox provided the following statement to TMZ: "We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time."

Lead actor Ryan Reynolds also tweeted a statement about the incident, saying: "We're heartbroken, shocked and devastated... but recognise nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment."

As reported by Deadline, Harris was the first African-American female professional road racer, and Deadpool 2 was her first film as a stunt performer. Production on the film has stopped for the moment following the tragedy, with no word on when it will continue.

Gamereactor sends their condolences to those affected.
