There's some big changes here if the leak is true.

While alleged online leaks can so often prove to be the source of something real (or at least are based on something real), sometimes they can be simply false, but that hasn't stopped a 'leak' about a new Dead Rising game catching our interest, especially since there are some surprising facts in there, if they're true.

The leak says that the game isn't being developed by Capcom Vancouver, who allegedly wanted to move onto other projects, so it's instead going to an entirely different studio, and for now it's just called Dead Rising, although it's not a reboot but "a complete return to form and almost a 'reset' of sorts for the franchise."

One bullet point is particularly scathing on Dead Rising 4, as it says this new game "began early production back in late 2015. CV was done with Dead Rising after 3 but Capcom had them s*** out DR4 using almost entirely old assets for the ten year anniversary."

In terms of setting, this new game apparently puts you in a college town with three separate sectors (mall, college, and town), and this takes place 25 years after the original. The main character is called Jack, a photojournalism student, and he is infamous for his conspiracies he writes, seeing the outbreak as a chance to make it big with a story.

Gameplay-wise, according to the 'leak' the original Dead Rising formula is back, along with a time limit, and it's very challenging. Players will have to abandon certain side quests, for example, and at a higher level to 100% the game will be actually impossible.

Psychos are back as well allegedly, focusing more on normal people who have gone insane, but no other characters return (although Frank West is mentioned frequently). Photography is a part of this new game, though, as expected by the role of a photojournalist, and Willamette is referenced a lot too. As much as the AI didn't help survivor escorts in the first game, these are also back but should work better, only taking up about half of the side missions, with the others being "investigatory work and lore."

And lastly, perhaps the most interesting bit of this 'leak' is the bullet point that claims: "DR4 is not canon, at least in this game's timeline."

Does this all sounds plausible?
