The PlayStation 4 will be getting update 5.0 soon, and the update's release notes have surfaced online, revealing a number of big changes as part of the update, some of which will be good news for streamers.
For example, update 5.0 will allow Twitch streaming from the console at 1080p and 60FPS, but this will only be for those using the PS4 Pro. Regardless, this should be good for those who want to try streaming, or want an easier way to deliver high quality content.
The update will allow you to follow any user on the console too, which is similar to what we've seen on the Xbox One, but as of right now you can only do this for verified accounts, like those for games and YouTubers. This is, according to Sony, in order to "encourage more sharing of content and more interactions". Following won't require submitting a friend request either, and it will also help developers to boost their viral potential by users being able to share content with followers easily.
Family accounts will also be added to feature multiple adult accounts which can then act as a parent role to set parental controls per account, so each child in the family can have different features, with accounts on other PS4s also being able to join the same family. A web application can manage this, allowing you to access parental controls and family membership from phones or PC.
The quick menu will show notifications as a part of this update as well, including uploads and downloads, and there's also a number of smaller changes, such as linking broadcasts to a community and support for more languages too.
Although we don't know when it's coming, it does seem like a lot is changing as part of this update. Are all these changes to your liking?
