Ubisoft has announced ambitious expansion plans for their operations in Sweden growing both their current Malmö-based studio Massive Entertainment (The Division) and establishing a new studio in Stockholm headed up former EA DICE studio manager Patrick Bach. The plan is for the new studio in Stockholm to grow to a workforce of 100 people over the next two years, with plans to expand the already large Massive Entertainment staff by an additional 200 people. Ubisoft Stockholm will work closely with Massive and their first task will be helping on the production of the upcoming MMO based on Avatar.

Bach spent 15 years at EA DICE, first as part of the development teams working on games like Rallisport Challenge 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 1 & 2, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, and later in an executive position overseeing development on Star Wars: Battlefront and Battlefield 1.

Via UbiBlog, Bach said this of the focus of the new studio:

"The focus is to create great games of course, including working with Massive on the recently announced Avatar game. To make great games you need a great team, a clear vision, great working conditions and a company backing you and supporting those pillars. I think we've got all those ingredients combined to make this studio a success, and offer something new on the dev scene in Stockholm."
