Square Enix has published its financial report for the last three-month period (ending June 30, 2017), and this has revealed an increase in net sales and operating income, helped by two games in particular.

The increase of 44.9%, compared to the same period last year, was mainly thanks to "strong download sales", and specifically the release of Final Fantasy XIV's latest expansion, Stormblood, which boosted the monthly subscribers and revenue of the MMO. Digital sales of Nier: Automata also helped with this as well, despite the game coming out in February.

"The Square Enix group is continuing determined efforts to strengthen the competitiveness and profitability of its business segments," the report reads, and with the release of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, which sold 2 million copies in two days and is currently up to 3 million shipped copies, it looks like the next quarter may be even bigger for Square Enix.
