Sony released some financial information with regards to their latest quarter (ending June 30), showing that shipments of PS4 slowed down marginally compared to the same period last year. Sony shipped 3.3 million PS4 units (3.5 million in 2016), bringing total shipments to 63.3 million.

Profits for the division dropped by a whopping 59.5% compared to last year, a result of lower console prices and the lack of a big first-party title (last year had Uncharted 4: A Thief's End) release. Revenue and sales saw a slight increase, attributed mainly to sales of PSVR and digital sales.

Is Sony starting to feel the increased competition with this being the first full quarter with Switch available in stores?
