PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has just hit six million sales on Steam, but it still has yet to be released on Xbox One, and now Brendan 'PlayerUnknown' Greene has spoken about this version in an interview, saying that there's no time-frame, but that things are looking good.

"We will announce the release date when we're ready," he explained. "That's for the big people in PR and marketing to tell me when I can say [laughs]. You'll find out when you find out."

He was also asked about challenges with console development, to which he answered: "Oh, no. Using Unreal first, it's a fantastic engine, it makes moving to different platforms relatively easy. There's optimisation that we need and we have a partner in Anticto, in Spain. There's about four or five of them working on the console version at the moment. They're very clever guys. They've helped us with a lot of features on the current game mod and for console. It's great, we have them working on that and the main team is still focused heavily on the PC version."

"We have a version running on the Xbox One X prototype in the office which can plug into the online servers," he added. "We were playing on live servers on the console at about 30 or 40 FPS. So it works on 100 man servers."

We assume neither Greene nor Bluehole are too worried about rushing the console version of the game with sales figures like those for the PC version, and there's even a invitational at Gamescom to keep them busy as well. It's reassuring to hear development is going well, though, and that they've made progress on the upcoming Xbox One X.
