American Truck Simulator closes road after landslide

The real landslide has closed the virtual road.

American Truck Simulator is a game that sees you trucking across the USA to get from place to place, and the "simulator" part of the title would indicate realism is a big factor, something that's no doubt reaffirmed by the latest announcement on SCS Software's blog.

"Dear American truckers. In your future travel plans, please keep in mind the temporary closure of the offshore section of California's coastal Highway 1. As you already know from the IRL media, Big Sur landslide interrupted the iconic route," the post reads.

"We always strive to bring something new in our game updates. This time, at this particular spot, we will not give, but take. The next update will close the Highway 1 section. Its reopening in our American Truck Simulator will depend entirely on real world events. Fortunately, an alternate route is going to be available."

We're not sure whether this move was to mirror reality or to pay respects for the real event and what it has affected, but either way, that road will be closed and you'll have to find another way around. Do you like that they've done this?
