Xbox's Q4 results are good news for software, but not hardware

It's mostly postive as a whole though.

Microsoft recently revealed its Q4 and year end results for 2017, in the fiscal year ending June 30, and it's good news for Xbox software, although worse news for hardware.

Gaming revenue, for instance, increased 3% to reach $44 million USD, with software and services revenue increasing 11% as well, mainly due to Xbox Live transactions.

In terms of Xbox hardware revenue, however, Microsoft registered a 29% loss on this front, due to lower prices and less consoles being sold.

It's better news when it comes to Xbox Live's monthly active users, though, as this grew 8% in Q4 year on year, with the total now sitting at 53 million across all platforms.

For Microsoft as a whole, revenue increased 13% year on year to reach $23.3 billion, with net income hitting $6.5 billion.

Can Microsoft get stronger with the release of the Xbox One X?

Thanks, VG247.
