On the back of the success of Spider-Man: Homecoming, Sony has begun developing a few spin-offs that are set to showcase the various corners of the expansive Spider-Man universe and, according to Sony themselves, these spin-offs willl vary quite a lot, and may have shifting budgets, genres, and concepts.
According to a report over at Variety, it's the distinctiveness that's going to be key going forward, and that seems apparent in the first two projects, Venom and Silver & Black.
Ruben Fleischer is directing the Venom film which has Tom Hardy in the leading role, and this has been revealed to be a John Carpenter and David Cronenberg inspired horror movie, something we'll see in action on October 5 next year.
Silver & Black, however, is about the heroines Silver Sable and Black Cat, and is being called a buddy film by director Gina Prince-Bythewood.
Are you excited to see a true horror film adaption of Venom?
