Last night longtime Epic president Michael Capps announced his retirement from the position on the Epic website, while staying on in an advisory role on the board of directors. The split appears amicable, as was the case with other high profile departures from Epic as of late (Bleszinski, Fergusson) as Capps prepares to become a father for the first time:

"If you haven't heard, I have a baby boy on the way. I'm fortunate that with Epic's success and generosity, I can be a stay at home dad for a while. My wife Julianne and I are very happy in Raleigh, and other than cleaning up baby barf, I don't have much planned. I might do some teaching, spend more time on creative writing, and maybe get more active with a few charities."

Naturally three high profile departures lead to speculation, but it may also be that Epic are experiencing a period where departures are natural as they are gearing up towards their first Unreal Engine 4 powered release.
