Dead or Alive 5: Last Round hits nine million downloads

The Core Fighters version may well have helped this.

Releasing the free Core Fighters version of Dead or Alive 5: Last Round seems to have been a stroke of genius on Koei Tecmo's behalf, as they have now announced that the game has passed nine million downloads. This will be celebrated with an event (so far only confirmed for Japan) where 16 female fighters can be used for free, with Ii Naotora only being playable on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The game reached eight million players early this year and six months later another million has been reached, an indication that it's still going strong and growing bigger all the time. Is this the best Dead or Alive to date though?
