John Carmack, tech guru and the heart and soul of id Software has expressed an interest in creating a game for Microsoft's Kinect device in an interview with Joystiq.

"I have an itch to make a Kinect title for Xbox Live." he told Joystiq, while admitting with his next breath "I don't even know what I'd want to do yet."

"I can't use Kinect for our real games; there just isn't a place for our current FPSes on there. But it's an interesting technology, and an Xbox Live game would be the perfect platform to do something like that on, at about the same scale of [a game for] an iOS device."

When Microsoft first showed Kinect lots of important people in the games industry spoke out on it and seemed interest in making games. Very little has amounted from these endorsements from Peter Molyneux, Hideo Kojima, Keiji Inafune and others, but it's definitely good news for Microsoft that Carmack is taking an interest in Kinect.
