During E3 we were shown a very rich catalog of exclusive games for the Nintendo Switch, and also some multi-platform games like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, FIFA 18, and Rocket League, but that's still far from the third party support players want. For now, Nintendo Switch is lagging behind the competitors in that department, but according to Jorge Vieira, Portuguese Nintendo PR, it'll be a matter of time until stronger support appears.
"I can tell you there are several third party games in development, some of them exclusive, especially at the level of independent developers," he said. "I also know of some multi-platform games that are being worked on for the Switch, which have not yet been announced. As for the multi-platform "AAA's", we will only begin to get a sense of it [support or lack thereof] after Christmas. We cannot assure you of anything, mostly because this depends on publishers, but what I know - and as several producers have said in E3 - this is not always a technical issue. The Switch supports Unreal Engine, Unity, and Frostbite, very popular engines, so it's not so much a technical issue."
"Milestone, for instance, said that it could have perfectly converted the new Moto GP, but it choose not to because they don't want to make a mere conversion, they want to create a Switch game from the ground up. I think that next year we will start to really get an idea of the third party support for the console. But I repeat, there are a number of games from other publishers that are being developed that have not yet been announced."
The recently announced WWE 2K18 is one of those games, as far as we can tell, but there's more on the way according to Jorge Vieira. What third party titles do you want to see?
