Ubisoft has announced their intention to expand the lore of the next iteration of the Assassin's Creed series through various media initiatives, including a novel, comics, art books, and an official guide.
"Assassin's Creed Origins will be expanded beyond the game to explore: Bayek's youth; the first years of the Assassin's Order, the artwork behind the beautiful and mysterious landscapes of Ancient Egypt, and an official guide for hardcore players", the official press release explains.
The novel, written by Oliver Bowden, author of other Assassin's Creed series novels, is called Desert Oath, and will be a prequel to Assassin's Creed Origins. In this novel we'll follow the journey of protagonist Bayek, who departs from his hometown to travel across Egypt. As for the comics (published by Titan Comics), Anne Toole will be the author of four volumes, and here we will explore the birth of the Assassins' Order. The Art of Assassin's Creed Origins (an art book published by Titan Books) will include concept sketches, city plans, character studies, and fully rendered paintings along with comments and notes from the artists and developers. Finally, the official guide will show use the use of weapons and equipment, provide a complete walkthrough, and a map with all the locations of the collectables.
A launch date and price haven't been announced as of yet, and we only know that all of this content will be available this autumn, as Assassin's Creed: Origins will land on October 27 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Have you already read our preview?
