As some of you may know, we received a bunch of new information on Splatoon 2 today, a sequel that's due to come out in a matter of weeks, and among the information we received were details on the game modes available to play in the game, which we'll run you through here.

Firstly, Turf War sees two teams of four battle to cover as much of the ground as possible in their coloured ink, taking place in a number of maps like city streets, and even a BMX track, with some even containing environmental dangers.

Players can also take part in Ranked Battles as well, where the three Ranked Battle modes rotate every two hours. These modes are Splat Zones, where teams fight for control over zones on the map; Tower Control, where players ride a moving tower; and Rainmaker. By winning one of these battles, players increase their rank in each mode, and although these can only be played online, the same modes can be played offline away from Ranked though.

League Battles offer another challenge entirely, as players form a team and battle to the top of the league, and players can either group up in a pair to be matched with another pair, or form an entire four-man team themselves. Teams then battle in Ranked Battle modes to try to climb the charts.

There's also Salmon Run as well, which can be played online and offline, seeing up to four players working together to battle bosses and collect power eggs in a limited amount of time. Each Salmon Run game lasts three waves, with players having to collect a certain number of eggs each match, and the map gets smaller each wave. Oh, and the different bosses all do different attacks and have different weaknesses, and there's varying difficulties of Salmon Run you can select.

If single-player is more your thing, the single-player mode also sees you going on an adventure to find Callie of the Squid Sisters. This will see you tackle bosses, Octarians, and a number of other obstacles, and serves as a nice warm-up for the multiplayer modes.

Which mode will you be diving into first?
