The Splatoon 2 Direct livestream took place today, and among the new content shown was new weapons, something that will obviously be a big deal for many fans when looking at whether they want to invest in this sequel.

In terms of main weapons, there's various categories, from short range to long range, rollers to chargers, and new inclusions in Splatoon 2 include the Clash Blaster, a new roller called the Flingza Roller, the Goo Tuber, and the Dapple Dualies, which allows players to dodge and roll around to avoid attacks.

Sub weapons were also revealed as well, helping with abilities such as defending or revealing enemy locations. The Toxic Mist fills the surrounding area with poisonous gas, for example, slowing enemies and reducing the ink of opponents, while the Autobomb finds an enemy and automatically follows them.

And lastly, special weapons are brand new and include Tenta Missiles, Injket, the Sting Ray, and the Baller, the last of which lets players roll up walls in the form of an explosive hamster balls. These work sort of like ultimates in the sense that they can only be used once a special meter is filled, and their effects are huge.

Can these three categories help make Splatoon 2 more tactical than its predecessor?
