Riot Games raises LoL RP prices in UK after Brexit

They waited a year to see if the pound would bounce back.

Riot Games has announced some changes coming to League of Legends affecting those in the UK, as RP pricing is facing some dramatic changes, as explained by Benshirro.

"Last June, the UK voted to leave the European Union, triggering a drop in the value of the pound relative to other global currencies, particularly the US dollar," the post reads. "This change meant that while UK players were spending the same number of pounds on RP as before, players elsewhere in the world were paying a lot more in comparison."

Because the pound has dropped so dramatically, then, and hasn't restored parity in the year since it dropped, Riot has now decided to raise the price of RP by 20% on July 25 at 23:59 BST. This is described as "a one-time change to restore balance in RP pricing around the world. None of your existing purchases will be affected."

The old RP prices will be kept until this date, and since the price of champions, skins, and more won't change, you can buy it for the same amount of RP in-game, even after July 25. It's only the price of RP itself that is changing.

Riot also announced that they are retiring the £2.50 price point, which they said wasn't used that much, and adding a £15.00 to give players 2,525 RP. If you're confused as to how much RP you'll get per payment, here's Riot's own table on the matter:

Price Point / Old / New
£5 / 975 RP / 790 RP
£10 / 2075 RP / 1650 RP
£15 / New / 2525 RP
£20 / 4200 RP / 3350 RP
£35 / 7450 RP / 5950 RP
£50 / 10700 RP / 8600 RP

Riot also says in the post that UK players will receive roughly the same amount of RP now as if they were to try and exchange money to dollars and tried to buy RP in North America.

Do you think this change is reasonable?
