Amazon limiting SNES Mini orders

Could this be to stop scalping?

The SNES Mini has, as expected, been out of stock with most retailers since it was announced at the end of last month, and as reported by MCV, those who have been trying to buy the console in bulk on Amazon have been met with resistance.

NeoGAF user Blam posted an email they received regarding their order of multiple units of the SNES Mini, and here's what the message says:

"We're writing to you about your Amazon.co.uk order... which includes more than one Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System."

"Unfortunately, there's been a change to the availability of this item on Amazon.co.uk... As such, we have reduced the quantity of the Nintendo Classic Mini: Super Nintendo Entertainment System in your order to one (1) unit. We understand this isn't what you expected when you placed your order and apologise for the inconvenience."

It's unclear why this is, but it seems as if you can't buy the console in bulk from Amazon at least now. This may well be in an effort to stop scalpers who want to resell the console at a higher price elsewhere.

Do you think this is fair?
