CI Games, the team working on Lords of the Fallen 2, has recently had to let the development lead, Tomasz Gop, go following the disappointment that was Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. Two years has passed since the team started working on the sequel to the souls-esque game, yet it's still in the concept stage.
The main reason, Gop said in an interview with Eurogamer, is that the company was focused on SGW3. "It's not uncommon knowledge that didn't go exactly according to plan, especially if it goes for sales. And here we are", he explained. That is why everything is changing. "I was let go because of a reduction in team, in scope, in budget, in business approach".
CI Games head honcho Marek Tyminski said that the new Lords of the Fallen is coming, but they're not aiming to emulate the triple-A formula any longer: "What we said about departing from triple-A: it means that we can really focus on the quality of our products, not thinking we have to match the scale of the major releases".
We can probably expect it in a couple of years though, as he said "we have a very small team working on Lords of the Fallen sequel". Maybe they can find a support team to co-work on it like Deck 13 with the first entry to the series? Let us know what you want to see from Lords of the Fallen 2 in the comments.
