Raphael Colantonio is a well-known name in the games industry. After founding Arkane Studios back in 1999, he has helped create games like Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, but is most known for his work on the Dishonored games and Prey.

Colantonio has revealed that his leaving the company and taking some time off, as he wants to spend some time with his son and reflect on what is important to him and his future. He admits that he's been through both fantastic and hard times, but that he's leaving with some amazing memories.

Not surprisingly, it'll be Harvey Smith, Colantonio's close friend and creative partner through the years, who will replace him as the leader of Arkane Austin, but Colantonio will be around for as long as necessary to ensure a smooth transition to the new management team in their headquarters in Lyon.

It is not uncommon for creatives on Colantonio's level to have non-compete clauses written into their contracts, so even if he has every intention of working in the industry again it may be some time before he returns and we sure hope he does.
