If you plant an Easter Egg in one of your games it won't take fans long to unveil it and it seems that Halo/Bungie fans have stumbled upon the very first teaser of Bungie's Destiny in Halo 3: ODST (released in September 2009).
Obviously, Bungie have been working on the Destiny concept for quite some time, and it would appear they were at least thinking of it even before they begun on what would be their final Halo game - Halo: Reach.
