The Oliver Twins, Philip and Andrew, have just launched a Kickstarter campaign for Dizzy Returns. The brothers are asking the crowd for £350,000 to help them "create the best Dizzy game ever!"
The original game was released on the Spectrum way back in 1987, and those with good memories will remember just how popular the platform game was. It's been over 20 years since the last game in the original series (Crystal Kingdom Dizzy) was released, but that will hopefully change late next year, if the project gets funded.
Dizzy Returns is being developed simultaneously for both iOS and PC, and will be made by Blitz Games. It'll utilise the touch screen controls of mobile games, but the studio were keen to bring the experience to PC too.
"It's also pretty obvious that any new Dizzy game should have a home on PC. It's something that Dizzy fans regularly ask us for, and after all, the ‘classic' Dizzy control experience with keyboard keys or joystick harkens back to the days of the Amstrad, Spectrum, Commodore 64, ST and Amiga."
There are various rewards for pledging, depending on the amount offered, and if the game does reach its target we'll likely see it appear in Q3, 2013.
