Microsoft continues to say that the Xbox Scorpio will be a "premium product" and keeps reiterating that phrase when people ask about what it'll cost. That has led us to predict that it'll cost $449 or $499. We now have a very good indication that it'll be the latter.
Geoff Keighley (producer and creator of The Game Awards and E3 judges week) is known for having very good connections in the industry and, doesn't spread rumours if there's any real doubt. That's why his latest tweet has gotten quite a lot of attention:
"I can now say with confidence Project Scorpio is $499. Unless something changes today, that is what will be announced."
As we've said before, this makes perfect sense considering how much the components used to manufacture one costs, and Microsoft's statements. Still, you might want to hold off on your judgement. There have been rumours of two different versions of the console. One with a 1 TB harddrive and another with 2 TB. Maybe Keighley's price is for the 2 TB version? We'll know for sure when the conference starts at 10 pm BST / 11 pm CEST.
