Last week Nintendo announced Nintendo Switch Online, the new subscription platform to play and interact with other gamers on the net. Through this service subscribers will be able to play games through the Nintendo Network, use the voice chat service, get discounts on selected games, and download some NES Classics for free, but there are some complications with this.

Nintendo Japan pointed out that this "Classic Games Selection is different" from what Virtual Console would be if and when it comes to the Switch. A representative told the Japanese magazine Famitsu that it is "still undecided" what to do with the traditional Virtual Console platform, because a Switch version is yet to be announced.

Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, and Dr. Mario are the only three titles confirmed for the Classic Games Selection, and these will be "classic titles with added online play," while the Virtual Console ones were regular old games with save slots.
