Remember Space Channel 5? It was a rhythm action game for Dreamcast created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi (Sega Rally, LRez, Lumines) with the swinging reporter Ulala as the main character. The game quickly got a cult following due to the upbeat music, but since then Ulala has been largely forgotten and we haven't seen her in anything other than the sequel Space Channel 5: Part 2 (which barely even got a Western release), although she was a small guest in games like Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, Project X Zone, and Samba de Amigo.
If you miss Ulala, you'll be pleased to hear that the Japanese action figure company Figma has now announced a highly detailed action figure of the reporter in two versions - the classic orange one from the first game (which is limited) and Ulala with the white outfit from the second game. She comes with her trusty gun, a microphone, and three coloured Morolians to set up your very own dance number.
Make sure you pre-order via the links above if you want one of these, though, and they'll cost you ¥7222 (roughly £50/€58). Is Ulala an underrated video game heroine?
