After working 23 years at Capcom, creative director Keiji Inafune, announced on his blog that he is leaving the company where he has worked on a massive range of games from Mega Man to the recently released Dead Rising 2.
In a blog post entitled "Sayonara" (translated by Kotaku) Inafune gives some indication as to why he made his decision:
"A manager's work means evaluating your subordinates and speaking your dreams. Anyone who can do both of those can be a manager. I thought that when I came here, and I still think that now."
"People that really know me, can see where I'm coming from. I'm not a regular dude. It's probably because I'm strange."
"I'm leaving Capcom with the intention of starting my life over."
Cryptic words. But we're pretty sure Inafune has the resume to start his own company if that's what he wishes. He also added that he didn't want to stay at Capcom just to further his status in the industry and that he needed a change to keep his creative spirit alive.
Jun Takeuchi will be promoted to corporate officer as Inafune leaves Capcom.
