Nintendo is increasing production for the Nintendo Switch to meet the demand, reports Financial Times. Nintendo would be planning to produce 18 million units before the end of May 2018 in order to meet demand ahead of the Thanksgiving and Christmas sales peak.

Nintendo denied that it plans to boost production to that level, holding on to its official hardware shipment target of 10 million. Analysts assumed for months that the company would exceed that number.

Some like Hirotoshi Murakami at Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley believe that Nintendo is intentionally being conservative in its guidance and predicts that it will produce as many as 20 million consoles by the end of the financial year.

The company also wants to avoid "customer tantrums" as it prepares to release Mario Odyssey in November.
