Last year Microsoft took strides to ensure that crossplay between PC and Xbox One would be seamlessly integrated into multiplayer titles that yearned for it, and with that it seemed that we were one step closer to a future where everyone could play online together, regardless of platform.
Since then, many have tried and failed, amongst them being Tekken 7, Gwent: The Witcher Card Game, and Rocket League, and it seems Crossout developer Gaijin is putting another nail in the coffin.
Recently WCCFTech spoke to Gaijin CEO Anton Yudintsev, and here he made it pretty clear that a shared multiplayer space between consoles is impossible:
"Crossout will not support cross-platform functionality. War Thunder unites PC and PS4, while Crossout will be available on Xbox One as well, and cross-platform between two different consoles is not possible."
Whether it's a simple technical challenge or a political issue is currently unknown, but it doesn't look like we'll get to play crossplay altogether any time soon. Is that a big issue though?
