Kickstarter is not just for nostalgia as evident by the Sportsfriends campaign initiated by four indie developers with four very different games seeking crowdfunding over Kickstarter to launch their games on PS3 and "home computers". The four games are Douglas Wilson's indie darling Johann Sebastian Joust, Noah Sasso's arty killer ball treat Barabariball, Bennett Foddy's weird physics based pole vault and ball kicking duel Super Pole Riders, and finally Ramiro Corbetta's minimalistic Hokra.
With 27 days remaining the campaign is off to a strong start with 1,069 backers pledging a total of $37,845. If you back the project with $15 you will get a copy of the compilation on your format of choice and an addition you will receive a copy of Jan Willem Nijman's minimalistic tennis game TENNNES. There are lots of weird rewards for those interested in making a sizeable contribution including bonus games and a 18-player Johann Sebastian Joust kit (!).
Anyway, head over to the Kickstarter page for more information and some entertaining videos.
