The world's largest game company, Chinese Tencent, continues to post record-breaking results. During the first quarter of this year (January-March) the company took in $3.9 billion in revenues, representing a 30% growth and putting them on course to beat the $10 billion they earned in game revenue last calendar year. Compare that to the recent record-breaking quarter of Activision Blizzard that saw them earn $1.7 billion in revenue.

Key earners during the period were League of Legends and FIFA Online 3 on PC. Tencent was able to achieve more paying customers thanks to campaigns while the actual user numbers sank. Tencent earned almost as much money from the mobile market where CrossFire Mobile and Honor of Kings stood out. The latter had a whopping 50 million DAU (Daily Active Users) in January, more than Pokémon Go at its peak.

Tencent currently owns Riot Games (fully) with substantial stakes in Supercell, Epic Games, Pocket Gems, Glu Mobile, and a minority stake in Activision Blizzard.
