With Insomniac's Spider-Man game, Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, Telltale's take on Guardians of the Galaxy, and The Avengers Project in the works over at Square Enix, there are already some big hitters on the way that draw on licenses from the Marvel Universe. There are, however, even more titles on the way.

Speaking to Gamespot in a recent interview, senior vice president of games and innovation at Marvel, Jay Ong, has hinted at several more projects in the works, as well as confirming that the company is exploring the world of virtual reality.

With regards to VR, Ong says that company isn't "shying away from it" after taking a long hard look at it last year.

"Absolutely expect some announcements in VR, that's something we're really excited about. I think our fans are going to go crazy. The things we're doing there are absolutely amazing.

"We see VR in the same way we see the other platforms in terms of if you want to do something, you need to do something truly amazing."

With E3 just around the corner, when asked whether we might hear more about new projects across console, mobile and VR, the man from Marvel said:

"There are absolutely things in the works, but we're just not quite ready to announce them yet."

The interview is an interesting read as it highlights the increasing importance of games at Marvel, with the company keen to work with talented devs to realise new stories. Whereas the gaming part of the business used to act more in support of other departments (comics, movies), they're becoming increasingly standalone.

Maybe we'll hear more about their "amazing" VR projects, or the plans relating to console and mobile, at E3 next month.
