One of the most annoying parts of Splatoon was that you couldn't choose maps to play online as you would do in almost every other game, including other Nintendo titles such as Mario Kart or Super Smash Brothers, meaning you'd have to play in the same two stages for four hours when the rotation would happen.
This is changing for the sequel, although just a little bit, as Splatoon 2 producer Hisashi Nogami told Edge (via NeoGAF) that the waiting time for every rotation will be reduced to just two hours.
"We feel that part of the gameplay is actually selecting which weapons would be best for that combination of two maps," he said. "In Splatoon 2, the maps rotate every two hours, so it'll be a much faster cycle than the previous game."
Is this a significant improvement?
