A law in China means that all publishers have to disclose the odds for loot boxes in their games, and while we thought we'd receive these early this month, they've actually been available for a few months now, and PCGamesN has collected those released for Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm, and Hearthstone, which you can see below:
Overwatch
- 100% of loot boxes contain an item of "excellent" or higher quality (rare/blue)
- On average there's an epic/purple item every 5.5 boxes (18.2% drop rate)
- On average there's a legendary (gold) item every 13.5 boxes (7.4% drop rate)
Heroes of the Storm
- 100% of loot boxes contain a rare item
- On average there's an epic item ever 4.5 boxes (22.2% drop rate)
- On average there's a legendary item every 17.5 boxes (5.7% drop rate)
Hearthstone
- 100% of card packs will have a card of rare quality or higher
- On average there's an epic card every 5 packs (20% drop rate)
- On average there's a legendary card ever 20 packs (5% drop rate)
