A new series of rumours swirling around the internet recently are saying that the new Assassin's Creed game won't be called Empire, but will instead be called Origins, also indicating that this isn't the only change coming to the franchise.

According to WWG (who have allegedly been approached by Ubisoft sources) this game will explore the origins of the assassins in ancient Egypt, offering a vast open world to explore in a less linear way. There'll also allegedly be a progression system less tied to the story.

Sources also compare the game with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and add that there will also be naval components as in Black Flag, as you'll have to travel the Mediterranean Sea to the north to reach the Greek coast. Whether you'll be able to explore Greece, however, is not mentioned.

If this information is correct, Assassin's Creed Origins will be introduced at E3 2017 and will be coming out a few months later in the autumn. Do these rumours sound promising if true?
