Nintendo has announced that, after more than 45 years, Genyo Takeda, Representative Director and Technology Fellow at Nintendo, has retired from the company and that, as of July 1, Ko Shiota, Executive Officer and General Manager of Platform Technology Development, will take over his responsibilities.
Takeda was one of the most important managers within the company and helped find a way to save files on the classic NES cartridges in the eighties, also helping to design the analog stick on the Nintendo 64 controller. More recently Takeda believed in the innovative power of the Wii and helped Nintendo to make the console a success.
