Battlefield 1's spring update has now landed, and it largely focuses on teamwork with the introduction of platoons; teams that persist over multiple games and are perfect for finding other players with similar interests, or rallying up with your friends. Any player can create a platoon, but they're limited to 100 members per platoon, and you can also only represent one platoon at a time.

"Get ready to team up. Today we are introducing the first wave of Platoons features for Battlefield 1," DICE writes in a blog post. "It's something a lot of you have been asking for, and that we are very happy to finally release. Our focus in this initial release is to add some of the core and most essential Platoons features, such as the Platoon Tag, while building a robust system that we can continue to expand and improve going forward."

Accompanying platoons is a new feature for medics, allowing them to "spot" the dying player to let them know you've seen them and you're on your way. This should prevent downed players from skipping the down state to respawn quicker if they know they should be revived shortly anyway.

The other new feature comes in the form of server administration, as admins can now add other players to a list to give them admin rights to the server. Also, password protected servers are being added now and the number needed before pre-round ends can now be lowered from 20 to 6.

Four new weapons have made their way into the game too, these being the Hellriegel 1915 Defensive, Selbstlader 1906 Sniper, HUOT Automatic Optical, and Martini Henry Sniper, which can all be unlocked by completing special weapon assignments.

Alongside all this there's a plethora of bug fixes, along with new ribbons and dog tags, and you can read the full list of changes here. Do you think platoons will work well in Battlefield 1?
