Last night Activision and developer Sledgehammer Games finally lifted the curtain on this year's Call of Duty game, Call of Duty: WWII, and in the livestream we received the first ever trailer for the game, revealing that the story will focus on Ronald "Red" Daniels, who is a member of the United States Army, 1st Infantry Division. Despite this, however, there'll be several other playable characters throughout the campaign, one of which is a female French Resistance fighter named Rousseau.

It was also revealed during last night's livestream that the game will feature playable female characters in its multiplayer and co-op game modes as well, which comes hot on the heels of last year's debacle when DICE revealed that, while a female protagonist was a part of Battlefield 1's single-player campaign, the multiplayer would only contain male soldiers.

It seems, however, that Sledgehammer is pushing for more diversity and inclusivity with Call of Duty: WWII. Is this a step in the right direction for the cause?
