This Friday Sony Corp. will release its financial figures for the last fiscal year, or more precisely the period between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017, and some analysts (as reported by Bloomberg) have pretty high expectations, predicting simular results to Sony's excellent year in 1998.

More precisely, analysts expect an operating profit of almost 500 billion yen (about £3.5 billion), which would be the company's highest since 1998, when sales were driven by the original PlayStation console. Not only that, but 1998 was a great year for Sony's film division, too, with hits like Men in Black being successful at the box office.

There are many reasons for analysts expecting good results, including the release of games such as Persona 5 and Horizon: Zero Dawn, as well as great sales for the PlayStation 4 (Sony expects to sell more than 60 million units by the end of the year), but we'll have to wait until Friday to find out just how well the company has done.

Do you think PlayStation is at its best since 1998?
