Steam has finally gone into beta on Linux, the open source operating system. Over 60,000 people applied to participate in the beta, with the first round of emails sent out to potential beta testers last week.
"This is a huge milestone in the development of PC gaming," said Valve's Gabe Newell. "Steam users have been asking us to support gaming on Linux. We're happy to bring rich forms of entertainment and our community of users to this open, customer-friendly platform."
