SuperData Research, an analytic market research company focusing on video games, had released their latest report about the global gaming audience in 2017. As the analysts forecast, more than 665 million people worldwide will watch video game content on platforms like YouTube and Twitch this year, and that will make total revenue of about $4.6 billion USD (70% of this comes from advertising and sponsoring).

Google's YouTube is still the big fish here, reaching more than 75% of all active users, who regularly consume gaming content. The best place to make out the most of your gaming content, however, is Twitch in particular. Paid subscriptions and voluntary donations made more than 50% of the platform's revenue during the last two years, which is far beyond average, and it's growing too.

Advertising is also discussed, as it's a big part of all of this. "Companies who do not advertise to [video game content] risk missing potential customers as they turn to streams over legacy media," the report explains. "With a global audience that reaches more viewers than HBO, Netflix, ESPN and Hulu combined, brands could be losing out on the next primetime viewing activity, not unlike TV or sports viewing at their peaks."

Do you think gaming video content can continue to grow?
