Some titles may see compatibility issues with the Scorpio

It's like the PS4 Pro's boost mode in a sense.

As we know from our earlier report on today's Scorpio spec reveal, the console will have 12GB GDDR5 in total, and eight of this will be available for developers to use. This extra 3GB compared to the Xbox One's 5GB, however, is used as a sort of RAM disk, but this isn't without issue.

The main concern with unlocking Scorpio performance for titles on Xbox One is that there could be compatibility issues. Essentially, it's like the PS4 Pro's boost mode, which can be turned on and off if there are problems with games, but this can't just be turned on or off with the Scorpio, so Microsoft has instead looked at all games and tweaked where necessary to make sure they're compatible. This does mean, however, that there may still be issues on a very small number of games though.

"We're going to be the ones that ensure that your games run as fast as they can in terms of all those five different features, the best that they possibly can," Microsoft's Andrew Goossen explained. "There will be some cases where we have to dial down some of those attributes... in some games we potentially have to dial down the number of CUs, for example, to maintain compatibility with that title. But again these are all things that Microsoft does, we've always done, that's true of all 360 titles on Xbox One. We just make sure it runs the best it possibly can on Scorpio and we're very excited that Scorpio really will be the best place to run all your Xbox content."

How much of an issue do you think this will really pose though?
